Hello, I’m Peter Mayes

Artist Statement:

I’m a visual storyteller driven by the power of narrative and digital media. Through 3D animation and design, I create work that encourages new perspectives and emotional engagement. Whether it’s building immersive worlds or animating nuanced moments, my focus is always on story—how it’s told, how it feels, and how it connects.

My creative process blends technical precision with artistic intention. I work primarily in Blender, Premiere Pro, and Photoshop to bring ideas to life, from concept to final render. These tools allow me to shape visuals that are not only polished but purposeful.

My goal is to push my abilities further with each project, building narratives that resonate through deliberate design and strong artistic choices.

Artist Bio:

My earliest memories of exploring technology as an artistic medium go back to borrowing my mom’s old Sony Handycam. I didn’t even care to hit the record button—I was more fascinated by the zoom lens and the fuzzy static texture it gave the world. I also vividly remember a pixelated volcano animation playing on my parents’ old computer, and how it completely captivated me as a kid.

Those memories stuck with me, and while my creative journey officially began when I bought my first camera at 16, it was really a return to something I’d always been drawn to. I started picking up small video and photo gigs, eventually leading me to the University of North Texas, where I initially studied photography. But being so close to the New Media department opened my eyes to a broader digital world—animation, 3D modeling, and immersive storytelling. That’s when I made the switch to New Media as my major, and I haven’t looked back.

Today, I’m focused on pushing my skills in virtual environments and digital storytelling even further—looking for opportunities that blend creativity, technology, and community in meaningful ways.
